Mapping Emergency Active Travel Funds

For the PEST project we aim to develop an understanding of what local authorities are doing in relation to supporting Active Travel in light of this funding and whether and how this is being documented. We have carried out some initial scoping to identify the extent to which (E)ATF schemes are being mapped. This has revealed several sources.

Visualizing Allocation of Active Travel Funds Allocations

On 13th November 2020, the DfT annonunced the allocation of the second phase of the Active Travel Funds (ATF). This totalled £175,360,750. While phase 1 Emergency Active Travel funds, allocated in May 2020, and totalling £42,102,451, was aimed to support the rapid installation of temporary projects for the COVID-19 pandemic, the second, allocation was targeted at supporting the implementation of long-term projects.
